Hi guys.

I decided to create t hsi thread after there was a brief discussion in quick notes where people where asking for information on an accessible mp3 player.

I'd point people to this site for more information.

http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/BlindFAQ

In short these players/recorders will speak they're menus, filenames, directory names, in a range of tts voices. Including ibm via voice, microsoft sapi and others.

Plus for directory names and filenames you can use any synth on yoru pc to generate iddy biddy mp3s that will speak the dir names and filenames for you.

How small of mp3s?

I did a directory name script for my entire albums folder which was at the time at 77gig. All the mp3s together added up to 14meg.

I'm happy to answer questions personally or on this board when I check lol.

But please do check out the above site before firing random questions.

I'm not wanting to be unhelpful but if it's answered there you most likely won't get a reply from myself.

lol

I use the Archos recorder 20gig to record my lectures in University straight to mp3.

Now the built in mic is absolute crap.

So you need an external mic to plug into the line in jack.

You dont' have to go anywhere near as flash as I did with my in ear binorrel mics, and portable pre-amp.

However because it's line in you'l need a mic that has a bettery in it or a little mini protible pre-amp.

This is only for the recording features on some models btw.

If you want them as a standard player you don't need to worry about any of this.

N'ways it's late and I'm off to me bed!
